Fikret Yüksel Foundation
Youth need to be prepared for the 21st century as competent, innovative individuals with problem-solving skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), nurturing leaders who can produce solutions to the global issues of the future.
The Fikret Yüksel Foundation encourages young people to pursue STEM careers while giving them the experience of tackling real-world engineering challenges via the FIRST® Tech Challenge and the FIRST® Robotics Competition. Turkish students from middle and high schools, program and control their robots to perform specific tasks with their team in a competitive environment. This not only equips students with technical skills but also provides opportunities to develop critical competencies such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and time management.
With support from the BDR Thermea Foundation, in cooperation with Baymak, Fikret Yüksel can produce more affordable competition kits, lowering the barrier to entry for teams from deprived areas and Baymak employees contribute as volunteers, sharing their knowledge, experience and motivation.
