Engaging our future engineers with ROC Amsterdam - Flevoland and Vti

Together with our partners, we work towards cultivating engineering talent to accelerate the energy transition

In collaboration with ROC Amsterdam – Flevoland (intermediate vocational education) and VTi we support education and training opportunities to develop a skilled workforce that helps build a zero-carbon future. In the scope of various projects, we aim to inspire people of all ages to explore and learn about technology and support the growth of the engineering industry. Projects include the digital ‘Wonderful House of the Future’ book, offering students from Remeha exploration days, and supporting Urban Technician certificates.

Education and training opportunities

A digital ‘Wonderful House of the Future’

ROC Amsterdam curated the idea to digitalize and offer a gamification of the book ‘Wonderful House of the Future’. The book focusses on encouraging research, familiarizing with your own home and heating, and wondering about own consumption. The goal is to make this digital version freely available to children, parents and schools all over The Netherlands.

Remeha exploration days

VTi (Vakschool Technische Installaties) approached its partners for potential PIE (produce, install and energy) ‘exploration days’ for third year VMBO (pre-vocational education) students from the Montessori Lyceum Oostpoort. These students are pursuing the PIE profile with little experience in installation and metal technology. To give these students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, we organized two spots in the Service Department at Remeha. The students can observe and gain a comprehensive understanding of the service experience for five days.

Training Urban Technician

Urban Technician is a training concept in development using certifiable units that can be stacked to form an MBO qualification. Companies, schools, and governments are very enthusiastic about the idea. In May 2022, a pilot took place at Installatiewerk Noord-Holland.
